Trauma & PTSD Assessment

Compassionate, evidence‑based assessment that prioritises safety, clarity and practical next steps.

Trauma & PTSD Assessment

At Serendipity Psychology Services Ltd, we recognise that trauma can affect how the brain and body respond long after difficult events. Our Trauma & PTSD Assessment brings together history, current experiences and strengths to understand what’s happening and why, without over‑pathologising. We consider single‑incident trauma, complex/developmental trauma, and overlaps with neurodivergence (autism/ADHD), anxiety, depression and OCD, so your plan fits the whole picture.

Every assessment is seen by at least two trained professionals and considered within our MDT. We aim to complete within 4 weeks, depending on scheduling and third‑party information.

Who this is for

  • Children, young people and adults experiencing distress linked to past events (e.g., accidents, medical procedures, bullying, abuse, loss, witnessing violence)
  • People noticing re‑experiencing (nightmares/flashbacks), avoidance, hyper‑arousal, startle, sleep changes, concentration or mood shifts

What we consider (differential focus)

  • Trauma timeline & context (what happened, when, how often; protective factors)
  • Core PTSD/CPTSD features (re‑experiencing, avoidance, hyper‑arousal; affect regulation, self‑concept, relationships)
  • Triggers & maintaining cycles (sensory, cognitive, environmental)
  • Neurodevelopmental profile (autism/ADHD), executive functioning and sensory needs
  • Co‑occurring mental/physical health, risk and resilience

What’s included

  • Background review (relevant reports/letters; with consent we may liaise with school/college/work or other services)
  • Clinical interviews (with you and, where appropriate, a parent/carer or trusted other)
  • Validated measures (e.g., age‑appropriate PTSD checklists/screeners)
  • Second professional review and team consideration
  • Clear, accessible report with recommendations & resources
  • Feedback meeting to discuss findings and plan next steps

We use evidence-based tools selected for your presentation, never a one‑size‑fits‑all battery.
