Connect with the present moment and enhance your mental and emotional health through mindfulness sessions – available both face-to-face and online.
The notion of ‘mindfulness’ is defined by intentionally being in the present moment. Over recent years there has been a substantial and robust evidence base to indicate that the practice of mindfulness can significantly enhance emotional and mental well-being. As such, principles of mindfulness that enhance individuals’ state of consciousness and awareness have been widely integrated into different psychological therapies with good success. Mindfulness is perceived as a life skill that enables us to focus on the lives we are living as we are living them, acknowledging the thoughts, emotions and sensations we experience as we experience them.
Our therapists at Serendipity Psychology are trained and experienced in utilising mindfulness alongside the other forms of face-to-face or online therapy they may be delivering. Some of these therapies naturally integrate mindfulness, for example Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) actively utilise principles of mindfulness.
While mindfulness is likely be an integral part of therapy for all our face-to-face and online therapy clients, it can also be accessed as a brief, independent programme delivered in a set of 6-8 sessions. The aim of these sessions is to help guide you through the core principles of mindfulness, to design and implement an individual well-being plan, and to be signposted to where you can access the most helpful and evidence-based resources to continue the integration of mindfulness into your lifestyle.
The evidence base behind mindfulness indicates that children also benefit significantly from learning these principles. The advantage of learning mindfulness as a child is that children can go on to automatically integrate these principles throughout their lives. With the rising pressure brought about by multiple methods of communication through social media and the internet, children are at higher risk of developing mental health difficulties. Mindfulness is an effective way of supporting children to stay connected with meaning and sustain their mental, emotional and neurological development.
Therapists at Serendipity Psychology offer mindfulness for children in several different forms, from individual face-to-face sessions as part of their standard therapy, to a set of standalone sessions to teach them the principles and how to integrate them into their lifestyle.
