Ruth Farrar is a Qualified Occupational Therapist registered with the Health & Care Professions Council and is a member of the Royal College of Occupational Therapists. She has been practising Occupational Therapy for nearly 20 years having gained a BSc (Hons) in Occupational Therapy from Oxford Brookes University in 2003.
Ruth had extensive experience working across the lifespan from pre-school children, adolescents through to adults. Much of her experience is within the field of Mental Health, working with people who have experienced trauma, PTSD, challenging behaviour, anxiety and individuals with an ASD diagnosis.
Her experience spans independent practice as well as working for the NHS, and Ruth is currently a Lead Occupational Therapist with an NHS mental health service. For over 12 years, Ruth has used Sensory Integration in her practice and is afforded the title of Advanced Sensory Integration Practitioner; she is working towards her MSc in Sensory Integration. Ruth is a member of the Sensory Integration Education provider and offers clinical mentorship to therapists undergoing their training. Ruth is developing sensory care pathways in her NHS role.
Ruth is DBT trained as an individual therapist and groups skills trainer and trained in Theraplay individual and group skills level 1. She uses a range of OT specific models such as Model of Human Occupation (MOHO) and Model of Creative ability (MOCA) to underpin her practice and ensure practice is evidence-based, collaborative and goal-orientated.
