Hello! I’m Emily. I’m an Assistant Psychologist who is passionate about supporting people through sensitive and challenging life experiences.
Much of my career so far has been rooted in healthcare and mental health settings, and I’ve gained a wide range of experience working as an Assistant Psychologist, a Nursing Assistant in a children’s hospice and a Patient Experience Officer within a hospital, including throughout the pandemic. These roles have given me the opportunity to support people at every stage of life, from children and young people to adults and families, often during times of vulnerability and change.
Since my degree I have completed additional training in areas such as Positive Behaviour Support (PBS), Sage & Thyme communication skills and a diploma in coaching. Each of these has taught me valuable skills for supporting individuals and families going through challenging life experiences.
I currently support the delivery of the EmPaTh group, a clinical psychology-led, attachment and trauma-informed programme designed to help parents and guardians nurture loving attachments with their children. My role involves assisting in group sessions that provide
parents with the strategies needed to reduce challenging behaviours and develop their therapeutic parenting skills. I have also worked on a project supporting adults with learning disabilities, where I helped assess their social, emotional and practical needs to ensure they
were matched to the most compatible assisted living environments.
I have a particular interest in developmental psychology and the ways in which our early life experiences shape our wellbeing across the lifespan. I’m keen to keep building knowledge within this area and to help improve outcomes for both young people and their caregivers.
