Hello, I am Dr Louise Winter, and I am a Health Psychologist. I specialise in and am passionate about supporting individuals through the psychological and emotional challenges that can arise when living with health conditions. I have experience working across a range of clinical settings and with various clinical presentations. Most recently working in oncology and with veterans with complex health needs.
Living with a health condition can impact every part of your life, and I understand how overwhelming and isolating that can sometimes feel. My aim is to help you navigate this experience in a way that feels manageable and empowering, so that you can regain confidence, adjust to new realities, and reconnect with what matters most to you. Therapy has been used alongside the medical model to help patients in the management of their health conditions, to help them cope with physical symptoms such as pain, and in reducing psychological distress which can aggravate our experience of illness.
If you are a carer or have a loved one who is ill, it is important that you also have a space to process and adjust. When someone you care about is unwell, it can take a toll on your own wellbeing. Therapy can help you identify your own self-care needs at this time and help you work towards meeting these, keeping your current care commitments in mind so that this feels manageable.
You may not have a health condition or illness but wish to improve your health and wellbeing. Health psychologists promote healthier lifestyles and can support in areas of health such as weight management, smoking cessation, and improving sleep.
I provide face-to-face therapy sessions at Sywell in Northamptonshire and offer online sessions for those who are unable to attend in person or prefer remote support.
On a weekend you will find me exploring historical sites or on a walk enjoying the outdoors. At home, I enjoy curling up with a good book, what was the last book you got lost in?
