Hello, I’m Dr Ben Davis. I have over ten years of experience working with difficulties such as anxiety and depression in both acute and community health services. This includes supporting both adults and children and working with various health problems such as stroke, chronic pain, cystic fibrosis, cancer, gastrointestinal disorders, diabetes, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, and traumatic physical injury. I have also developed a special interest and expertise in working with individuals with autism, ADHD, and undiagnosed neurodiversity, as well as supporting referrals to diagnostic services.
I have additional experience in community mental health and learning disabilities residential services for children and young adults, and I possess additional skills in neuropsychological assessment.
I have worked with a wide range of moderate to severe mental health difficulties, including anxiety (e.g., obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), social anxiety, health anxiety, needle phobia/procedural anxiety), post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression, bipolar disorder, psychosis, and emotionally unstable personality disorder (EUPD/BPD). In this work, I draw from a range of therapeutic modalities, including cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), compassion-focused therapy, and EMDR.
I have conducted research on burnout in the NHS, which contributed to the government inquiry on NHS workforce burnout. I use the models developed to support understanding difficulties in work-life balance, which can significantly impact relationships. During COVID, I worked for one of the NHS Resilience Hubs, supporting NHS, Social Care, and Emergency Services staff. Currently, alongside my role at Serendipity Psychology, I am employed in the NHS Haematology Department, where I support patients with blood disorders such as haemophilia, von Willebrand, sickle cell, thalassemia, and thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP).
