Hi, I’m Deb Lock, and I am a psychotherapeutic counsellor. I work with adults and young people, from age 16 upwards, and have experience in working with moderate and enduring mental health issues that may arise from the manifold difficulties we all encounter in modern everyday life.
I have worked in public service, within the mental health and safeguarding arenas, for over 20 years and have a wealth of experience in supporting victims of crime. I have developed significant experience working with survivors of sexual violence, domestic abuse, harassment, and stalking. In line with this, both during and after my therapeutic training, I volunteered as a counsellor for Rape Crisis.
I also have an 18-year history of working with the Police Service, where I developed a profound understanding of the many sources of trauma that emergency services personnel encounter. I have harnessed this understanding and experience to specialise in working with individuals from the emergency services, medical, and armed forces backgrounds.
I work as an integrative therapist, which means that I am qualified and experienced in employing techniques from a number of different approaches, enabling me to personalise the therapy I provide to meet each client’s unique needs. I believe that therapy is a very personal experience, so the way we work together will be tailored to your own specific needs.
I offer independent consultation to clients at my Northampton-based clinic and am also available for online therapy. I am an Accredited Registrant with the National Counselling & Psychotherapy Society and a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy.
