At Serendipity, we are always looking out for helpful resources to share with our clients to help them manage some of the more difficult feelings they might experience. Recently, we have come across a great app for iPhone and Android called ‘Headspace’. What we really like about this app is that it is very helpful to use day-to-day to learn mindfulness skills which is great for learning how to live in the here and now, something we miss out on so often in our busy lives. Mindfulness is an ancient Buddhist practice which, believe it or not, is really relevant for life today. It means paying attention in a particular way: on purpose; in the present moment and; non-judgementally. This increases awareness, clarity and acceptance of our lives.

People that meditate regularly claim there are many benefits for their lives and there’s a substantial body of evidence from users of these techniques that suggests regular mindfulness practice is an effective treatment for stress, worry, lack of focus, relationship problems, addictions and loads more (www.headspace.com).

Headspace begins with a ten-day introductory programme dedicated to teaching you the principles and fundamental practice behind mindfulness, which is completely free! Once you have completed it, there are additional packages available to download to suit your individual needs. Several of our clients use this resource already, and we can see why!
