Sensory Integration Assessment (OT‑led)

Specialist Occupational Therapy assessment translating sensory insights into everyday strategies at home, school/college and work.

Sensory Integration Assessment (OT‑led)

Our sensory systems shape attention, emotion, movement and participation. When sensory processing is misunderstood, the result can be overwhelm, fatigue or behaviour that looks like “won’t” when it’s really “can’t yet.” At Serendipity Psychology Services Ltd, our sensory‑integration trained Occupational Therapists (OTs) assess sensory needs and collaborate with our wider team (psychologists, nurses, psychotherapists) so support plans are practical and joined‑up.

We aim to complete assessments within 8 weeks. Every case is reviewed by at least two trained professionals and considered in our MDT.

Who this is for

  • Children and young people with sensory‑related differences (e.g., sound/light sensitivity, clothing/food textures, movement seeking/avoidance, meltdowns or shutdowns)
  • Adults experiencing sensory challenges at work or in daily life (e.g., open‑plan offices, commuting, fatigue after sensory load)
  • Families, schools/colleges, employers seeking clear strategies and environmental adjustments

What we look at

We build a picture across settings, considering:

  • Sensory modulation & registration (over/under‑responsivity, seeking, avoiding)
  • Discrimination (how accurately sensations are interpreted)
  • Praxis & motor planning (ideation, sequencing, body awareness)
  • Impact on arousal/regulation, attention, sleep, feeding, self‑care, play/learning, and work

We assess sensory needs alongside neurodevelopmental and trauma‑informed understanding when relevant.
