Hello, I’m Nia, and I’m so glad you’re here. Life can sometimes feel overwhelming—past experiences, societal expectations, and inner struggles can create echoes that make it hard to find clarity. But just as physical wounds need care, so too do emotional ones. I believe that therapy is a space to pause, reflect, and reconnect with the parts of yourself that may have been lost along the way.
As an integrative counsellor and psychotherapist, I am deeply passionate about creating a safe, compassionate space where you can bring your full self—without fear, without judgment. My work is not just about offering support but about truly seeing and understanding you as an individual. I feel incredibly privileged to walk alongside my clients on their journeys, helping them uncover their own resilience, strength, and self-compassion.
I bring experience from working in both the NHS and The Psychotherapy Room in Derby, supporting adolescents and adults facing a wide range of emotional and psychological challenges. I specialise in trauma, domestic violence, sexual abuse, anxiety, depression, bereavement, relationship difficulties, life transitions, and self-esteem concerns.
Adolescence is a time of immense change, self-discovery, and emotional growth. It can also be a time of confusion, anxiety, and pressure—whether from school, family, friendships, or the expectations of society. I specialise in working with young people, helping them navigate these challenges with greater confidence and self-understanding.
Many adolescents struggle with anxiety, low self-esteem, academic pressure, family conflict, or identity exploration. Others may be facing more complex concerns such as trauma, self-harm, or neurodivergence. My approach is warm, empathetic, and tailored to the unique needs of each young person. I provide a safe space where they can express themselves openly, develop coping strategies, and build resilience.
I also work closely with parents and caregivers when appropriate, offering guidance on how to support their child’s emotional well-being while fostering open communication and a nurturing home environment.
Each person’s journey is unique, and I tailor my therapeutic approach to meet your specific needs, drawing from a range of evidence-based modalities, including:
I have a strong understanding and passion for working with neurodivergent individuals, including those with ADHD and autism. As someone who is neurodivergent myself, I deeply understand the challenges that come with navigating a world that isn’t always built with us in mind. I strive to create a space where you feel truly seen, understood, and supported in embracing your unique strengths. My lived experience, combined with my professional expertise, allows me to approach therapy with insight, empathy, and a deep appreciation for neurodivergent perspectives.
Therapy is not about finding all the answers at once—it’s about exploring, growing, and reconnecting with yourself at your own pace. If you feel ready to take that step, I would love to walk alongside you on your journey.
Perhaps most importantly, creativity and adventure are at the heart of who I am. Music is my anchor—it keeps me centred and allows me to express emotions in a way words sometimes cannot. I also find deep joy in creative pursuits like sketching, painting, and crocheting, which help me regulate and connect with myself on a deeper level.
Beyond creativity, I have a love for the outdoors and exploration. Whether it’s hiking through nature, snow trekking in the winter, or seeking out new adventures, these experiences fuel my sense of curiosity and resilience. Engaging in these passions not only keeps me balanced but also inspires the work I do, reminding me of the importance of self-expression, movement, and connection with the world around us.
