Hi, I am Marilyn. I am in the final stages of my clinical training in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy, and I am registered with the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP). I have over 10 years of clinical experience working in a number of mental health services, and I am experienced in working therapeutically with adults of all ages, including families, providing specialist assessment, consultation, and therapeutic interventions for those with a range of psychological issues through both face-to-face and online therapy. I offer both brief and long-term therapy.
I have worked with a number of leading mental health organisations, including the NHS and independent providers. In my own independent practice, as well as working individually and in groups with adults, I provide consultancy to independent mental health organisations (specialist inpatient adult services for autism and forensic mental health). I have a particular interest in working with adults facing various life challenges and enduring mental health conditions.
In my work, I help people to understand and resolve their challenges by increasing awareness of their inner world and its influence on relationships. I work in a way that develops awareness of how unconscious factors influence behaviour. My therapeutic approach aims for deep-seated change and emotional development. As part of my consultancy role with independent mental healthcare providers, I have delivered training to a specialist autism inpatient ward to support staff and teams in understanding and working with individuals with autism, in addition to training that supports further service development. I have also provided formal teaching for both undergraduate and postgraduate psychology degree courses at Royal Holloway University of London.
